Summary

Gemtuzumab ozogamicin is a recombinant humanized IgG4κ conjugated to a cytotoxic antibiotic calicheamicin.  Binding of gemtuzumab to it's target CD33 allows for internalization of the complex followed by release of calicheamicin which binds DNA and causes strand breaks and cell death.  Gemtuzumab ozogamicin is indicated for the treatment of CD33 positive acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
