Tocilizumab is a humanized, monoclonal antibody directed at the IL-6 receptor (IL-6R) which blocks IL-6 mediated pro-inflammtory effects.
Tocilizumab has been evaluated in adults with Rheumatoid Arthritis and in children with systemic-onset Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. In these studies, patients
treated with tocilizumab improved, and these are approved indications for administration in Japan.
